Woo What a Weekend!!

So we are all moved in!!! Our furniture has been delivered (minus the end tables, which will be here Friday), the pool table is put together, and we even have some decorations up. It has been really nice having our own place again. I know the cats are happy too (they no longer have to be kept in a small bedroom).

William finally got to come home this past Thursday night for the first time in three weeks. He got to come home and see his house for the first time. We spent many parts of the weekend working on the exterior of our house as well as vising with a lot of people we love.

Howl at the Moon!!

Our weekend consisted of a lot of people coming by to check out the new place. Friday night I had a couple of friends over for dinner before we went out for one of their birthdays. We went to Howl at the Moon in Houston and had a blast. I am glad she had fun. Afterwards we had our first sleep over in the new house!!

Me and the graduate
She lost her hat!!!
oh, Megie-La!!
Waiting on the ceremony to start.

Saturday consisted of work outside then a night with my family for my niece's graduation. We had a delicious bbq dinner before heading to the BH stadium to watch the graduation. I was so proud. Oh, and while I am a bragging aunt, Ashleigh went to the State Choir competition this weekend and received a 1 on her solo!!!! That's what's up!!!

Sunday William put his pool table together which made the house complete for him. When people would ask him how he liked the house he would reply "it's alright" or "I like it" but once that pool table was put up he LOVED the house. It really helped too that for a belated birthday present for him, my mom got him some pool accessories. We ended our Sunday evening by swimming at my sister's and enjoying some more delicious bbq. Oh, and we had s'mores which were amazing as well!

Monday being a holiday, we decided to have a little birthday party for William since he was all alone in Carthage for his birthday last weekend. We bbq'd some burgers, hotdogs, and sausage.. had a cookies n cream cake... and had many many games of pool. Everyone seemed to really enjoy themselves. I think our first party was a success!

Now it is back to the swing of things. William is back in Carthage and I am getting ready to start summer school next week. Maybe I can get a lot of work done in the house this week  before next week starts more crazyness!

Niece is Graduating!!!!

Last night we celebrated the upcoming graduation of Ashleigh with a "Red Carpet Affair" party. The guests were advised to wear a costume portraying a character from a movie or television show. I was not creative enough to come up with anything, so I was a party pooper and did not dress up, however all the kids did and they all looked soo good! Especially Ashleigh and her boyfriend Ethan. They were Bella and Edward from Twilight. Ash did such a good job on their make up and hair and they really did look like them! Also following the Twilight theme was Flora dressed as Alice Cullen and Megan dressed as Renesme! They were all so cute!

Also attending the party was Ryan dressed as James Bond, and kids who's names I do not know were dressed as: Betty Boop, Black Swan, Steve Martin, Peter Griffin, Trenity from Matrix, Indian Princess (from Slumdog Millionaire I think??), James Dean, Sandy as well as Danny from Grease, Farris Bueller, Kathryn Heigl in 27 dresses, Regina George from Mean Girls, Belitrix Lestrange, Luna Lovegood, Wendy from Peter Pan, a Geisha, a Token Black Guy, Alice in Wonderland, and the Madhatter.

All that fun aside I cannot believe out little girl is graduating!! I was six years old when she was born and next weekend I will be watching her walk across a stage and receive her high school diploma. I am extremely proud of her and can't wait to see what the future holds for her.

Once the kids were done with the costume awards, they changed and went out into the pool. That is when my sister, mom and myself sat down to a good ol' game of Phase 10! I did SOO good in the beginning.. then I got my butt handed to me! It was my WORST game ever. It took me seven rounds just to get ONE stupid phase. UGH. Needless to say, I was not happy!!!

All in all it was a good time. I got to visit with my family and enjoy some yummy snacks in the mean time.

Update on the House!

Oh my goodness what a process this has been.

We were told a while back that once the house got delivered set up would only take about three days. So can someone please explain to me why the heck we got our house on Monday, and here it is almost Friday, and I am still not moved into my new house?!?!? Granted, the house is livable... just not comfortably livable.

The air conditioner company will not be out until Monday to instal the air conditioner and put the skirting up around the house.
There have been soo many issues just to get to this point though. Nothing we couldn't handle.. but still frustrating nonetheless. There was a misunderstanding regarding who was hooking up the water (us or the construction crew). We knew it wasn't us because the only thing we took out of the contract was the electricity and driveway in order to lower our monthly payment.. nothing about plumbing!! So that was delayed a day while we waited for it to get straightened out.

The people at the building supply store here in Dayton probably know me by name by now. Between all the wrong items and the need for extra items that we forgot/didn't know we need.. I hope I don't have to go back there anytime soon!
Oh.. and I can't forget the aluminum electrical wire that I drove all the way to Humble to get and purchased 2/3 more than we needed. LUCKILY they were nice enough to let us return it (something that is unheard of). But that meant another drive to Humble.

There were more little things that were aggravating and frustrating along the way, but this blog would go on for days if I wrote them all out. On a positive note, the house has water and electricity as of today.. our new living room furniture will be delivered on Saturday.. and we will be moving everything out of storage into the house on Monday. Just a few more days and it will all be over :)

I am just sad that I am getting to experience all of this while William is working out of town. Poor thing is working insane amounts of overtime and hasn't gotten to come home in two weeks. He doesn't even get to come home for his birthday this weekend. Eh, well someone has to pay the bills!!
I will post pictures once set up is completely done and there is furniture in the house.

Finally

So the house is finally here!!! YAY!! So much has gone on the past two days. Monday the electrical engineer finally came out to the property to tell us where we can put our light pole. He wasn't at all very helpful on the questions we had, and was only there for about 30 seconds. I was a tad bit aggravated considering it took us almost a month to get the guy out here. But anyways, since he finally came, we were able to order our light pole and have it delivered to the property. So we (some family members and myself) put the pole up Monday evening. That was when I tripped and fell UNDER the heavy pole that almost got dropped on me. HA! As if that wasn't funny enough, my foot got a massive cramp while trying to get up that was so bad I couldn't uncross my toes! If you think it sounds funny, you should have been there to witness it! Today we spent all day getting the correct wire (which I ended up getting WAAAAY too much of thanks to miscommunication) and pvc pipes then digging up a lot of dirt to lay the electrical wires. Man am I sore today.. and to be honest I didn't do THAT much!

The contractors were supposed to be out at the property today to finish installing the well, hooking it up to the house, hooking up the septic, the siding, skirting, plumbing, and all the work that needs to be done inside, as well as building the stairs to actually get in the house. However, the parts they needed to complete the well did not come in today as they were supposed to, so they won't be out until tomorrow. Which was fine, because that gave us a chance to bury the pvc pipes without being in the way.

Tomorrow will be another long day of work since we have to do all the electrical hook up for well, septic, and AC. But hopefully after tomorrow, everything will be done and we will be waiting on the electrician to come out and inspect then hook up our pole to the street pole and VUALA (sp?)-- we will have power and can move in!!!

So I am not very good at this blogging thing yet.. But I will try to get better. Hope you have an outstanding night/day!!

Welcome

So, I have been keeping up with many blogs of friends, and I decided that I wanted one too. Here you will read stories of the experiences and the growth of a young married couple. I guess this means William and I will have to start doing more exciting things. **Hint*Hint**. Ha, just kidding.

I guess to get this thing started I will talk about the most obvious thing going on in our lives right now and that is the purchase of our first home! We came across a great opportunity to purchase a piece of property from Williams grandfather for a price that was too good to pass up. Our budget (not to mention credit approval) would not allow for us to build on the property so we have decided on a manufactured home. We found a gorgeous 1700 sq. foot Champion home that we were able to completely customize to our likings and order.

It was a long long LOOONG road to close on the house. We began the process in OCTOBER and just finally closed in MARCH! Of course it didn't help that William is working out of town, and the house is in his name. Just getting the correct power of attorney form was a nightmare. If anyone ever said buying a home was easy, they were lieing to you!

Not only was it a long process getting the paperwork done, but we had along road of preparing the land. William and a few of his family members worked every weekend on the land getting it ready. Man did they work hard. I regret not taking pictured documenting their process :( The work they did included: clearing of trees and brush, ripping the stumps out of the ground, leveling the property with sand, putting in a culvert, and putting in a driveway which consisted of pouring and leveling out clay and then covering with crushed concrete. All the guys who worked on the property on the weekends did such a great job. We still have a little bit of work to do on the leveling front, but the low areas are in the back of the backyard and can wait a little bit longer. The main priority was getting the area where the house will be taken care of.

Since we finally got to close on the loan, the contractors were able to begin the work they needed to do. This included: preping the pad where the trailer will be, putting in the concrete runners, and putting in the septic system. They will also be putting in the well but that will come after we get the light pole installed since they have to hook it all together.

We were originally told that it would be about four weeks to make the house. However, during that fourth week while were very impatiently waiting for them to contact us and tell us it was on the way, we get an e-mail saying that the house won't begin to be delivered until the week of May 16th!!! Ugh, so not what we wanted to hear, and considering everything else that has gone on recently... it would be really nice if just ONE thing could go right the first time!!!!!

So currently, we are living with William's parents who live just a few houses down from our property. Yep, the born and raised Baytownian has moved to DAYTON!!! I think some of you were beginning to think I would never get out of Baytown! Ha! So far, I am enjoying the country life. Not that Baytown was the city life, but it is compared to Dayton. I will enjoy it so much more when I have my house with my yard.

Well this is going to end my first post. Keep checking back and I will try to post about 3 times a week at least.
Have a great day, and thanks for stopping by!!
